The Arenal Volcano and Tabacón Hot Springs adventure begins in the late morning, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a restful beginning to their day. A three and a half hour scenic drive will take you to one of Costa Rica’s most famous attractions: the active Arenal Volcano. The towering cone-shaped Arenal Volcano often rewards visitors with impressive natural fireworks displays and voluminous plumes of smoke that rise hundreds of feet into the air. On clear nights, the show may be even more stupendous as the mammoth volcano spews red lava and huge rocks from its peak, which glows against the black sky.

The next day, after a hearty breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the Arenal Hanging Bridges, a one and a half mile rainforest circuit of interpretive trails and suspended bridges. A walk along these rainforest wonders provides visitors with a unique perspective of the surrounding environment as well as magnificent views of the volcano. After an early afternoon lunch, you will hike up a path that leads you through meadows and scenic forests up the base of the volcano to solidified lava flows. Here you will enjoy panoramic views of Lake Arenal and the surrounding rain forest as one of our tour guides leads you along Arenal Volcano National Park. Your day ends at Tabacón Resort, where you will have an opportunity to refresh your weary body in steaming hot springs as you view the colorful tropical gardens that cling to the lower reaches of the volcano. The source of the Tabacón River lies deep within the core of the volcano, and its thermal waters gush forth at over a hundred degrees Fahrenheit year around. These inviting waters form sparkling waterfalls and warm water pools that will soak your worries away. Take some time to indulge yourself at the exclusive Tabacón Spa while choosing between facials, therapeutic massages or volcanic mud treatments. A delicious dinner will be served at Tabacon before returning to your hotel.

The following day offers an easy biking trip over a paved road through the forests and sights around the base of Arenal Volcano. Upon your return to San José in the late evening, you will feel utterly relaxed and without a worry in the world.
