Mountain Lodge (formerly Cabinas Chacón)is a small and intimate
hotel in the midst of the cloud forest located near the lovely mountain
village of San Gerardo de Dota, south of San José. Savegre
Mountain Lodge is nestled on a 400-hectare farm, with 250 hectares
of primary forest and the remaining 150 hectares dedicated to fruit
orchards (apples, peaches and plums). The lodge is built at 2,100
meters (7,000 feet)above sea level, with an average daytime temperature
between 18-25 degrees Centigrade. The comfortable mountain lodge
offers 26 cabins that sleep anywhere from two to eight people, with
private baths, hot water and a sitting room. Members of the Chacón
family will gladly accompany you along the well-marked trails through
the forest, which is excellent for birdwatching. The forest is home
to the mystical Resplendent Quetzal. Guests can swim in the refreshing
Savegre River, fish for trout or watch the early morning milking
at the dairy. All this can be experienced in a relaxing, peaceful
setting amidst the verdant vegetation of the cloud forest. |
